The increasing renown and development of ISARA-Lyon can be explained by the school’s close and constant collaboration with industry and government: businesses, professional organisations, government agencies, local authorities, etc. This strength has enabled the school to become a reference in its focus areas:
Since August 2005, ISARA-Lyon has offered a wine engineering apprenticeship programme. Its objective: to train engineers so that they can understand and confront all of the issues affecting the wine industry in France and abroad in a pragmatic and operations-oriented manner. Training an apprentice (generally BEng level) is the guarantee of actively participating in the development of a high-level executive. During two years of work study, the apprentice completes assignments dealing with viticulture, winemaking, oenology, marketing, sales and management under the guidance of a tutor (cost: 61% and then 78% of minimum wage). Since April 2007, ISARA-Lyon has been located on the AGRAPOLE site in the Gerland district, which is Lyon’s major hub for scientific and biotech research and development. This is the context for the partnership that has developed between Forum Oenologie, ISARA-Lyon, Inter-Rhône and the journal Revue des Œnologues, with the goal of showcasing research, technical advances and marketing development associated with Syrah. This international symposium will rely on the expertise of Forum Œnologie, a non-profit organisation, in organising scientific and technical events, on the experience of the Revue des Œnologues in scientific and technical communication, on the technical skills of Inter-Rhône and on the educational and research know-how of ISARA-Lyon. All of the state-of-the-art information and communication technologies available at ISARA-Lyon will be made available for this symposium and for all of the internationally known experts who will be present.
