Nigel Blieschke  is the  Manager and  Viticulturist at the Yalumba Nursery in Australia. He has worked in the wine industry for the past 14 years and has extensive knowledge an experience both nationally and international in viticulture with particular reference to varieties, clones and rootstocks and how they impact on wine quality. In addition, since taking over the Yalumba Nursery six years ago Nigel has steered its clonal and small lot winemaking programs.

The Yalumba wine company is Australia oldest family owned winery and was established in 1849. The winery is situated at Angaston in South Australia’s famous Barossa Valley. In 1975 Yalumba established a vine nursery to supply grafted vines for its own vineyards. Today the Yalumba Nursery supplies 90% of its production to external customers and has grown to become one of Australia’s biggest and most respected viticultural nurseries. In 1999 the Yalumba Nursery developed its own clonal selection program based on the selection of superior clones from old vine vineyards from both the Barossa and Eden Valleys.
